Robby is an incredible coach - he built my tennis from the ground up and broke down every stroke thoroughly at a very young age. His lessons are extremely comprehensive and fun; I learned to love the rigor and intensity of tennis. I felt incredibly well-equipped when beginning competitive tennis simply due to his lessons. I played four years in the starting lineup on Mount Carmel's varsity tennis team.
- VaaniRobby's a great coach who brought me from a beginner to a 4 year varsity level player on the Westview tennis team. He's able to break down and explain high-level technique in a way that's simple to understand, and is also great at pointing out your mistakes and guiding your technique in the right direction. As the FTC robotics world champion and valedictorian, I have a good sense of when someone has technical proficiency in an area, and Robby certainly does. Overall, he's a great coach for beginners to advanced level players who can help you improve at any stage.
- IsaacI started taking lessons with Robby when I was 59, having never played tennis before. Under his expert guidance, I quickly gained the skills and confidence I needed to improve my game. Robby’s coaching style is both patient and motivating, which made it easy for me to progress at my own pace while always pushing me to challenge myself. Thanks to his tailored approach, I now play at a competitive level and have earned a spot on the top line of my league. Recently, I went undefeated in my matches and even received an award for my performance—something I could never have achieved without Robby’s dedication and skillful coaching. I highly recommend Robby to anyone looking to improve their game, no matter their starting point. He truly knows how to bring out the best in his players!
- DaivaI started taking lessons from Robby when I was 8 years old. He would travel with me and my dad to USTA tournaments all over Texas. He laid the foundation of my entire tennis game; but especially my service game. Other players and parents would always ask how I learned to hit such precise and strong serves in a variety of slice, spin, kick, and flat serves. For my mid-court game, we named his classic high forehand approach stroke “The Robby Shot” due to its iconic appearance in my developing tennis career. When Robby left for California, I would fly out, for months at a time, to continue receiving his coaching.
By 17 years old I had reached a 10.0 on UTR, top 25 in Texas and top 250 in the US on the Tennis Recruiting Network. By my senior year, I was State Runner-Up in Mixed Doubles in 5A high school Texas tennis.
Even after I went to college and gradually stopped playing tennis, Robby continued to be a mentor to me. He even attended my graduation at MCRD San Diego when I became a United States Marine.
Years later, Robby and I still keep in touch. Because he was more than just a great coach: he was a great mentor and an even better friend.
